The Next Generation of Cooling Refrigerants.

An air conditioner or heat pump counts on its refrigerant to cool and dehumidify the air before it’s sent back through your home. This liquid is housed within the coils of your home’s cooling system, but one of the most widely used refrigerants used for a very long time – the R-22 (Freon) is now being replaced due to environmental concerns. In fact, this phase-out was mandated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency through the Clean Air Act. Production of R-22 will cease by 2020.

Introducing R-410A

R-410AR-410A is EPA-recognized, chlorine-free and ozone-friendly. This means it will cool your home without damaging the environment. What’s more, Lennox’s most highly efficient systems are made to use this AC refrigerant, which can help your system perform efficiently. The same Lennox systems are known for durability, quiet operation and improved dehumidification, so you’ll stay comfortable.

Additional Considerations

At Energy Upgrades, Inc. in San Dimas, our cooling models can work with R-410A. If you have a system that was made prior to 2010, you may want to consider replacing your cooling system now, before R-22 is completely phased out. Some manufacturers carry alternate refrigerants such as R-407C, R-438A and R-422, however, they may not work with an R-22 AC or heat pump and could compromise your system’s performance.
